In this sacred space we honor the memory of some feminist websites and media. This nekrocemetery is an archive of static copies of these websites. They are like a snapshot of when they were &#8220;alive&#8221;, when they were available online. We extract a static copy for reasons of weight, but also for security reasons. We will explain the raationale of the project, challenges and issues related to its development, we will explain in a hands on mode how to archive websitesand will also try to create a map of some feminist infrastructure websites that should be archived.<\/p>\n<p>En este taller de 2 horas presentaremos el <a href=\"https:\/\/alexandria.anarchaserver.org\/index.php\/Nekrocemetery:_Hello_from_the_dead\">nekrocementerio feminista Anarchaserver.<\/a> En este espacio sagrado honramos la memoria de algunos sitios web y medios de comunicaci\u00f3n feministas. Este nekrocementerio es un archivo de copias est\u00e1ticas de estas paginas web. Son como una instant\u00e1nea de cuando estaban &#8220;vivos&#8221;, cuando estaban disponibles en l\u00ednea. Extraemos una copia est\u00e1tica por razones de peso, pero tambi\u00e9n por razones de seguridad. Who archive? How do they archive? why they archive?<\/p>\n<p>Some exemples that are shared are <a href=\"https:\/\/anthology.rhizome.org\/female-extension\">&#8220;Female Extension&#8221; by Cornelia Sollfrank (1997)<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiorageuses.net\/\">radio archive of the feminist radio rageuses<\/a> that has over 15 years and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arte-util.org\">Arte \u00datil<\/a> case studies which show how these initiatives are not isolated incidents, but part of a larger historical trajectory that is now shaping our contemporary world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some tools to make a static archive of a website:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itprohelper.com\/mirror-a-website-using-wget\/\">Wget<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can mirror a website using wget easily. Copy and paste the below into your terminal. If you\u2019re on a mac you can install wget using brew or using your favorite method.<\/p>\n<p><code>wget --mirror --convert-links --adjust-extension --page-requisites<br \/>\n--no-parent http:\/\/example.org<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Explanation of the various flags:<br \/>\n\u2022 \u2013mirror\u00a0\u2013 Makes (among other things) the download recursive.<br \/>\n\u2022 \u2013convert-links\u00a0\u2013 convert all the links (also to stuff like CSS stylesheets) to relative, so it will be suitable for offline viewing.<br \/>\n\u2022 \u2013adjust-extension\u00a0\u2013 Adds suitable extensions to filenames (html\u00a0or\u00a0css) depending on their content-type.<br \/>\n\u2022 \u2013page-requisites\u00a0\u2013 Download things like CSS style-sheets and images required to properly display the page offline.<br \/>\n\u2022 \u2013no-parent\u00a0\u2013 When recursing do not ascend to the parent directory. It useful for restricting the download to only a portion of the site.<br \/>\nAlternatively, the command above may be shortened:<br \/>\nwget -mkEpnp http:\/\/example.org<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.httrack.com\/\">HTTrack<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/conifer.rhizome.org\/\">Conifer by Rhizome.org <\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>For drafting the Obituary of an archived website please answer the following questions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What was the purpose of that page?<br \/>\nWho were the people or groups that thought up and kept them online?<br \/>\nHow long were they active?<br \/>\nWhy were they removed?<br \/>\nDo they have the potential to live again?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will archive and draft the obituary of the THF website once the website includes the documentation of the THF2022 and <a href=\"https:\/\/nekrocemetery.anarchaserver.org\/\">the archive will be available here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also plan to archive the <a href=\"https:\/\/cyberfeminismindex.com\/\">Cyberfeminism index<\/a> in 2023 preemptively and we hope to be able to support the archiving of the rede feminista autonoma that has gone offline.<\/p>\n<p>We will launch a mini campaign among feminist networks proposing our feminist nekrocementry\u00a0 in 2023.
